MCA #1, Tuesday Evening

Lulu was bustling around the kitchen, preparing various ingredients, while she waited for Liir to show up.

There was a pot of orange spice cocoa on the stove, simmering away, for when he got there. The aroma was wafting through the apartment, and probably out into the hallway, as well.

He took the cup happily and sniffed it.

"I knew the cinnamon and the chocolate. The orange is different."

He took a sip.

"Good, though."

"I'm rather fond of it myself," Lulu said. "Now, is there anything in particular you'd like to learn to make? Or shall we just begin?"

"I wouldn't know what to ask you to teach me," he pointed out. "And I'm sure whatever it is, it'll be good."

He smiled. He was doing that quite a lot, lately. He had good reason.

"All right, then. Let's start with oral sex."

Liir almost dropped his cocoa.

He couldn't even get out a question. It just came out as a squawk-like clearing of his throat.

"... I'm sorry, I should have phrased that better. Oral Sex is the name of the delicious hazelnut cookie I offered you last week. With the chocolate in the top?"

Liir's mun calls dirty pool. It wasn't even capitalized.

"Oh."

A pause before he got out.

"That sounds good. Teddy would probably like those."

The mun also calls dibs on a camera to catch his expression when Liir asks.

This mun would rather like to see that, as well.

"Then we'll start with those?" Lulu took another sip of her cocoa before pulling out the flour and hazelnuts. "In the cabinet to the left of the sink, you'll find the food processor -- it's a white appliance with a clear plastic container attached? There are blades inside the container."

He nodded dutifully before taking another sip of his own and putting it down.

"This one?" he asked a moment later as he pulled it out.

"Yes, exactly," Lulu said. "It chops food very finely for you, so we're going to use it to powder the hazelnuts." She handed him the plastic packet of the nuts. "Have people told you yet about plugging in electronic devices?"

He shook his head.

"But I've seen some of the lamps and things."

He held up the plug.

"This goes into the wall, yes?"

"Yes, exactly. Plug it in, and then place the hazelnuts in the plastic container. Tightly secure the lid, and then turn the dial there on the side to the '1' setting."

He followed the instruction, but nearly jumped when the machine roared to life under his hand.

Then he smiled at Lulu, albeit nervously.

"Do you think it would be all right if I brought hazelnuts to put in this machine so I could make these for my friends?"

"Well, you can have some of tonight's finished product," Lulu said, "but if the cooking facilities in the dorms don't have food processors, then yes, you can certainly use mine."

"Thank you," he said. "For both."

And he watched as the bits and pieces were thrown around in processor.

"Not a problem," Lulu said, smiling. "After all, you're helping with the baking, you should be able to enjoy the results." She mixed together the other ingredients, then got out the chocolate, placing it in the top of a double-boiler to melt.

"I'm learning," he said. "That's thanks enough. And that means I can make them on myself."

Lulu smiled. "Learning is... one of the most important things, I find," she said. "I've learned a great deal since coming to Fandom."

She stirred the chocolate.

"Oh?"

Because she seemed so... self-possessed.

"Most of my cooking experience has been since coming here, for example," Lulu explained.

"Then I suppose you're a very fast learner," he said. "You don't seem as if you only recently learned it."

Lulu laughed. "Well, I certainly cooked before coming here. It's just that I've been able to expand the scope of my knowledge since I've been here. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn."

"Oh," he said "That's good, then."

He leaned against the counter.

"Most things here have been new."

"For me as well."

She went silent for a moment, moving over and turning off the food processor. "They're ready, I think," she said. "Go ahead and add them to the rest of the ingredients, then stir them together. We're looking for a fairly stiff dough, something we can work with our hands."

"All right," he said as he did as told.

"I helped one of the students today. I don't think you noticed. He seems to.. well, he seems afraid of the stove."
